Does Kundalini Drive You Crazy? – Myths and Truths

Throughout my life, I’ve portrayed many characters on stage. But one day, I encountered an energy within me that was neither a role nor a character. It was an energy—silent yet powerful, invisible yet deeply transformative. And then I heard its name: Kundalini.
Whenever I mention the word “Kundalini” in a conversation, I often see either widened eyes or skeptical expressions. Some are drawn with curiosity, others recoil in fear. Unfortunately, many myths, mystical exaggerations, and fearful stories have surrounded this energy. But the truth is: Kundalini is a natural force within each of us that, when awakened with love, illuminates our being.🔥

Myth 1: Kundalini is dangerous and drives people insane.
Truth: Kundalini is a natural, inner energy.
Like water in nature, when it flows in the right direction, it brings life. When blocked or suppressed, it either stays dormant or becomes distorted by external trauma. What causes imbalance is not Kundalini itself, but an unawakened life dominated by ego and unconsciousness.
As Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi clearly stated:
“True Kundalini awakening makes you calmer, gentler, stronger, and more balanced.”
This was my experience too. Instead of going mad, I found peace. Instead of breaking apart, I began to come together.
🐍 Myth 2: Kundalini is only for advanced yogis.
Truth: Kundalini exists in everyone.
In a baby, in an artist, in a scientist. Awakening it doesn’t require extreme effort—it requires intention and an open heart. Unlike in ancient times, Kundalini is now accessible to all. Shri Mataji opened this sacred knowledge to the public because we are now in a collective age of awakening.

Myth 3: Kundalini is only sexual energy.
Truth: Kundalini is the total life force.
Sexuality is only one expression of it, not the whole. Like a river flowing to meet the sea, Kundalini rises to reunite us with spiritual awareness. It is the inner mother—compassionate, intuitive, and transformative.
🎭 A Glimpse from My Journey
As I shared in my book “Would You Be My Scene Partner?”, while portraying other people’s stories on stage, I was also witnessing the awakening of my own soul. Meeting Kundalini for the first time was like meeting the true hero within me—pure, creative, and free.
When I stepped off the stage and faced myself, Kundalini embraced me, transformed my fears, and reconnected me with the child inside. It’s not easy to put into words—but it’s very real.
