Every film has a hero…
And on that hero’s journey, there is always a guide who appears at the right time.
For me, yoga is exactly that guide.
And the entire philosophy of Arda Eşberk Akademi is rooted in this point:
Learning to become your own guide on your inner journey.
What Is Yoga? Beyond the Misconceptions
The flexible bodies we see on TV, people placing their legs behind their heads, the magazines calling yoga a “trend sport”… Is yoga really just that?
Of course not.
Yoga is an ancient teaching, a system, a path that dates back thousands of years. The word comes from the Sanskrit root “yuj”, meaning to join, to unite. But the union we speak of here is not a physical union alone— It points to something much deeper and far more meaningful:
The journey of bringing all parts of yourself together.

How Many Parts Are We? Is Oneness an Illusion?
When we look at ourselves, we say, “I am whole.”
But in reality, the parts that make us who we are move in different directions, with different needs—and often, they are disconnected from one another.
Without understanding these parts, true wholeness is impossible.

1) Our Body
The body’s needs are simple: to eat, to sleep, to move… When physical needs aren’t met, all of our attention is pulled there. It forces us—even in the middle of a video—to pause and drink water or go to the bathroom.

2) Our Mind
The mind has two main aspects:
Ego: “I know everything best.”
Superego: “You’re not doing anything right.”
Each pulls us in opposite directions. One inflates us, the other harshly brings us down.

3) Our Emotions
Sadness, fear, joy, anxiety… Emotions make it difficult to stay present. A single thought or event can take over our emotional world and shape all our inner energy.

4) Our Soul
We hear about it from books, teachings, and beliefs… But have we ever truly felt it? The soul is our energetic field, and as long as we live disconnected from it, we feel incomplete.
So How Does Yoga Bring All These Parts Together?

While researching Poseidon for the play Ancient Anatolian Gods, I came across a metaphor I never forgot: A chariot pulled by four horses… If these four horses don’t run in the same direction, the chariot cannot move.
Yoga teaches exactly this: The art of aligning the four “horses” named body, mind, emotions, and soul.
This is not exercise; It is a life system, A path toward wholeness, A practice of awareness.
The Common Purpose of Ancient Teachings: Unity

Throughout history—from Egypt to Greece, China to India—ancient cultures tried to teach humanity one thing: When a person becomes one with all their parts, they access their true power.
Yoga is one of these ancient systems and offers an 8-step journey. Each step brings us closer to our center, to our inner strength.
Why Yoga? Why Now?
As modern humans, we struggle with both inner and outer challenges. Anxiety, stress, uncertainty… When outer problems meet inner chaos, it becomes harder to see our path clearly.
Yoga can be a guide on this path— A way that centers you, aligns your parts, and brings you back to yourself.

Yoga at Arda Eşberk Akademi: Not Just a Practice, but a Transformation
At our academy, yoga is not: A flexibility tool, A trendy sport, Or a sequence of physical movements.
For us, yoga is the most powerful tool one uses on their own hero’s journey.
When the body, mind, emotions, and soul come together, a person meets their own light.
And that is when:
Awakening begins…
